Stolen Lives

Subject:
Street kids - child prostitution
Minutes Long:
46

Every year in Canada and the United States, over seven billion dollars are generated by the commercial sexual exploitation of children under the age of 18.  It is estimated that over 300,000 children work in the sex trade in North America.  (International Relief Organization).  This exploitation of children in all its various forms reflects a North American culture clearly out of whack.  How is it possible that so many children are sold for sex?  How is it possible that the violence, terror and suffering of children can be so largely ignored?  How is it possible that the prostitution of children can be condoned by the silence of communities?  This film takes a hard look at boys and girls who are being exploited in this fast-growing business of selling children for sex.  There are stories, compelling and poignant, diverse and courageous, that expose the realities of the lives of these children.  This film produced in association with CTV, Vancouver Television, Knowledge Network, British Columbia Film,
